Trip.com Group has revealed that there has been an increase in the number of travel bookings from the Asia-Pacific region to Paris, with Japan occupying the second position.
Due to events such as the UEFA European Championship and the Paris Olympics & Paralympics, there has been a significant overall increase in travel bookings to Europe, with bookings to Paris from outside France increasing by double digits compared to last year.
Travelers visiting Paris are mostly from Mainland China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Singapore in the Asia-Pacific region, and the UK, Spain, Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands from Europe. Particularly in July and August, there was a strong demand from Asia, with bookings from China increasing by 105%.
There is a difference in travel trends between Asia and Europe, with Asian tourists preferring to include sports viewing in their sightseeing trips and typically having longer stays than European travelers. The average length of stay has expanded by 20% compared to the previous year, with the longest stays from tourists of Mainland China, South Korea, and Hong Kong. European tourists tend to have short stays focused on watching matches of their national teams.
Luxury hotels and palace accommodations are popular choices, and reservations for well-known restaurants have increased by 20%. Bookings for vacation rentals and boutique lodgings are also on the rise. Besides Paris, other popular destinations within France are Nice, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, and Nantes. For Japanese and Hong Kong travelers, Marseille, Lyon, and Nice saw a significant increase in bookings with double-digit growth from last year.
