Malaysia Airlines to Launch Tokyo/Haneda to Kota Kinabalu Route, Ticket Sales Begin
Malaysia Airlines will launch a route from Tokyo/Haneda to Kota Kinabalu on February 24, 2025. Ticket sales have begun.
Flights from Tokyo/Haneda will operate on Tuesdays and Fridays, while flights from Kota Kinabalu will be on Mondays and Thursdays, making it a twice-weekly round trip. The service will utilize Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The flight duration is planned to be 6 hours and 40 minutes from Tokyo/Haneda, and 5 hours and 25 minutes from Kota Kinabalu. This route will be operated in code-share with Japan Airlines (JAL).
Until September 2023, Malaysia Airlines had been operating the Tokyo/Haneda to Kuala Lumpur route, but it had withdrawn from Haneda Airport and transferred operations to Narita Airport. As previously reported, the airline is planning to increase the Tokyo/Narita to Kuala Lumpur route to two flights per day.
