JAL and Garuda Indonesia to Start Joint Business in April Next Year
Japan Airlines (JAL) and Garuda Indonesia have signed a contract to commence a joint business for routes connecting Japan and Indonesia starting in April 2025. The contract was signed on October 3.
The two airlines are already implementing code-share operations, including JAL’s flights from Tokyo/Narita to Jakarta, Tokyo/Haneda to Sapporo/Chitose, Nagoya/Chubu, Osaka/Itami, and Fukuoka, as well as Garuda Indonesia’s flights from Tokyo/Haneda to Jakarta, Tokyo/Narita to Denpasar, and flights from Jakarta to Yogyakarta, Surabaya, and Denpasar.
In the winter schedule, JAL will operate 13 round trips per week from Tokyo/Narita to Jakarta, while Garuda Indonesia will operate one round trip per day from Tokyo/Haneda to Jakarta and Tokyo/Narita to Denpasar.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism granted an exemption from the application of the Antimonopoly Act (ATI) in August.
