Qantas Airlines has arranged two special flights to assist Australians living in Lebanon with returning home.
These flights are scheduled to depart from Larnaca, Cyprus, on October 7 and 9, and are expected to leave Sydney the following day. They will be using the Boeing 787-9 aircraft for the operation.
Operated on behalf of the Australian government, these flights are free of charge. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade is coordinating the returnees among those registered on the equipment portal.
Qantas Airlines is accepting volunteer pilots and cabin crew for these flights. When special flights were operated from Tel Aviv in October 2023, 900 cabin crew members showed interest in the 70 available positions.
