JR West to Fully Open ‘Umekita Green Place’ in March Next Year
JR West has announced the opening schedule and tenants for the ‘Umekita Green Place’ in the Umekita area near Osaka Station.
A part of the plaza in front of the station will start its service on December 12, with the full opening scheduled for March 2025. The site, consisting of a three-floor building, covers approximately 12,500 square meters and includes a commercial facility, pedestrian plaza, station-front plaza, and pedestrian deck.
The first floor aims to attract parks visitors with a variety of takeaway options including sweets, food and beverage, and retail stores. The second floor connects to Osaka Station and other locations through a pedestrian deck and will feature an urban food court, bakery, and cafe. The third floor, embracing the openness of outdoors, will host upscale and authentic dining establishments.
With a total of 20 stores, tenants will include eel specialist ‘Maruya Honten’, Hawaiian restaurant ‘Eggs’n Things’, barbecue ‘Yakiniku Ushigoro’, soy sauce ramen ‘Naniwa Menjiro Miyabi’, among others, along with five fast-food outlets.
Development is progressing in the western area of Osaka Station, including the Umekita 2nd phase district. The JR West Group has already opened JP Tower Osaka in November 2023 and Inogate Osaka in July 2024. In conjunction with the September preview opening of the Umekita 2nd phase district, a pedestrian deck connecting ‘Umekita Green Place’ and the existing Osaka Station area has been launched.
