AirAsia X inaugurated its Kuala Lumpur to Nairobi service on November 15th.
Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, is the company’s first venture into Africa. It marks the first time an ASEAN low-cost carrier (LCC) has entered Kenya, facilitating business, trade, cultural exchange, and tourism connections.
The Kuala Lumpur-originating flight D7101 departs at 7:00 PM and arrives in Nairobi at 11:00 PM. The Nairobi-originating flight D7102 leaves Nairobi at 12:30 AM, arriving in Kuala Lumpur at 3:10 PM the same day. The flights from Kuala Lumpur have a duration of 9 hours, while those from Nairobi take 9 hours and 40 minutes. The operation days are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday for departures from Kuala Lumpur, and Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday for departures from Nairobi.
The initial flight from Kuala Lumpur had a load factor of nearly 90%. Benjamin Ismail, the CEO, stated, “Entering Africa has always been a dream for our company, and AirAsia X has been steadily working to make flight connections worldwide more accessible and affordable.”
On March 14th, AirAsia X commenced flights to Almaty, the capital of Kazakhstan, marking its first entry into Central Asia. The company continues its aggressive route expansion.
