United Airlines has announced it will invest over $500 million in the expansion and renovation of Washington Dulles International Airport.
The newly opened Concourse E will span 435,000 square feet and include 14 gates capable of accommodating both new widebody aircraft and mainline aircraft. The area around the gates will also feature seating, retail spaces, and other amenities.
A United Club is slated to open in the latter half of 2026, which, at 40,000 square feet, will be 70% larger than before and the largest lounge of its kind.
United Airlines has been investing in airport infrastructure in Denver, Houston, and New York/Newark as well. The company employs 8,000 people in Washington, operates over 250 flights daily, and has plans to expand its services to include new destinations such as Anchorage, Mobile, and Palm Springs. By April 2025, flight operations are expected to increase to approximately 280 flights. In 2025, a new training center for cabin crew will also be opened.
