Rakuten Card has announced an increase in the administrative processing fee for overseas shopping, effective from March 1, 2025.
The increase applies universally to Visa, Mastercard, JCB (Japan Credit Bureau), and American Express, raising the fee from the current 2.20% to 3.63% (both inclusive of tax).
The implementation date of the new rate may not always match the credit card usage date due to delays in sales data transmission from merchants and differences in processing procedures.
