JR Central’s ‘Doctor Yellow’ to Offer a Wash Experience Event before Retirement, 200 Participants Wanted
JR Central will hold a vehicle wash experience event to mark the retirement of the Series 923-0 ‘Doctor Yellow’ T4 formation in January 2025.
The event takes place on February 1, 2025. Participants will gather at Shinagawa Station and then travel by chartered bus to the Oi Depot, where they will wash the side of the T4 formation. Participants will also have the opportunity to take photos of vehicles parked in the depot before and after the event.
The event will be held six times, with a total of 200 spots available for EX Service members. Each member can apply for up to four people. The fee is 2,000 yen for junior high school students and older, and 1,000 yen for elementary school students and younger. The application period lasts until noon on December 22. In case of many applicants, a lottery will be conducted.
Doctor Yellow is a vehicle used for inspecting electrical and track facilities on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines. There are two formations: the Series 923-0 (T4 formation) owned by JR Central, set to retire in January 2025, and the Series 923-3000 (T5 formation) owned by JR West, which is expected to retire after 2027.
