Hong Kong Express Airways to Begin Flights to Shizuoka Starting December 17 with Three Round Trips Per Week
Hong Kong Express Airways has launched a new route between Shizuoka and Hong Kong starting December 17.
The service will operate three round trips per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. This route will be exclusively operated by Hong Kong Express Airways. The flight duration is from 4 hours and 55 minutes to 5 hours and 15 minutes from Shizuoka, and from 3 hours and 30 minutes to 3 hours and 50 minutes from Hong Kong.
At Hong Kong International Airport, the inaugural flight was seen off by Hong Kong Express’s CEO Janet Mao, Deputy Director of Corporate Development at Hong Kong Airport Authority Chapman Fong, Principal Consul Masahiro Nishiumi from the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong, along with characters such as Chibi Maruko-chan and cabin crew members. Passengers on the first flight received limited edition souvenirs featuring Chibi Maruko-chan.
This expansion brings the total number of Japanese cities served by the airline to 10, making it the Hong Kong airline with the most destinations in Japan. A new route to Sendai will be added in January, increasing the total number of weekly round trips on the Japan routes to around 170.
