New KENTY SKYLINER Featuring Kenji Nakajima Starts Service on November 23: A Refresh in Design and Announcements for a ‘Cool and Handsome’ Experience
Tokaido Shinkansen Launches Its First Special Livery Train Themed After DisneySea’s ‘Fantasy Springs’ from February 21
JR Central and Oriental Land Co. have announced that, starting from February 21, they will operate the ‘Wonderful Dreams Shinkansen’, a special Tokaido Shinkansen train set themed after Tokyo DisneySea’s new area, ‘Fantasy Springs’, which opened in June 2024.
This marks the first time since the Tokaido Shinkansen’s debut in 1964 that a train has been given a special livery. One N700A formation will showcase the thematic worlds of ‘Fantasy Springs’. Cars 4, 7, 10, 12, and 14 will feature ‘Frozen Kingdom’, cars 2, 5, 8, 11, and 15 will represent ‘Rapunzel’s Forest’, and cars 3, 6, 9, and 13 will be themed after ‘Peter Pan’s Neverland’. The bilateral lead cars, 1 and 16, will combine elements from all three thematic areas into a single design.
Inside the train, special headrest covers and table stickers will add to the experience (excluding car 7’s ‘S Work vehicle’ and green cars between 8 and 10), alongside a carriage melody inspired by ‘I See the Light’ from “Tangled”.
The inaugural run on February 21 will be the 6:43 AM service from Nagoya to Tokyo, ‘Hikari 632’, followed by operations as ‘Nozomi 213’, ‘Nozomi 238’, and ‘Nozomi 465’. From the following day onward, the train will mainly run as ‘Hikari’ and ‘Kodama’. A dedicated website provides the specific operating schedule. The special train is scheduled to run until mid-September.
