Hong Kong Airlines Resumes Vancouver Route, First North American Service Reopens
Hong Kong Airlines resumed its Hong Kong to Vancouver route on January 18.
This route initially started as the first North American service in June 2017. Operations for all North American routes were suspended in February 2020 due to restructuring.
There are two weekly round trips, departing Hong Kong on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and Vancouver on Wednesdays and Sundays, using Airbus A330-300 aircraft. The flight duration is 12 hours from Hong Kong and 13 hours 55 minutes from Vancouver. Both business class and economy class offer Chinese, Western, and vegetarian meals.
Cathay Pacific operates two daily round trips and Air Canada operates one on the same route.
By 2024, flight frequency fully recovered to pre-pandemic levels with an average seat occupancy rate of about 85%. The airline covers over 30 destinations through network and aircraft optimization.
