Jetstar Japan Surpasses 40 Million Passengers on Narita Routes

Jetstar Japan announced that the number of passengers on its Narita International Airport routes surpassed 40 million on February 6.

The number of passengers surpassed 30 million on October 11, 2022, increasing by 10 million in about 2 years and 3 months, taking approximately 12 years and 7 months since the launch in July 2012.

Currently, Jetstar Japan operates a total of 16 routes comprising 13 domestic and 3 international routes from Narita International Airport, with a maximum of 88 flights per day. The number of seats offered is the largest for any airline serving Narita International Airport.

Masakazu Tanaka, Representative Director and CEO, stated, “Since our inauguration, we have focused on building a domestic network with Narita Airport as our main base. We have reached the milestone of 40 million cumulative passengers thanks to our customers and supporters of our operations. I express my heartfelt gratitude. In 2011, the year before our launch, the annual domestic passenger count at Narita Airport was about 1.72 million, but in 2024 it has grown 4.4 times to about 7.6 million. More than half of these are our customers. We take pride in creating new demand as a low-cost carrier and contributing to the establishment of a new flow of people based at Narita, continuing to expand it. At the time of our launch, Narita Airport was more synonymous with international flights, but by challenging the establishment of domestic usage with all stakeholders involved, Narita has risen to 6th nationwide in terms of domestic passenger numbers by airport. In the future, we will continue to generate new aviation demand as an accessible low-cost carrier, contributing to increased domestic interaction and regional revitalization.”
