Uber has started offering its taxi dispatch service “Uber Taxi” in Chitose and Eniwa, Hokkaido, using the Uber app from February 9.
Users can request a ride through the Uber app by entering their pick-up location and destination, checking an estimated fare based on the meter rate and estimated arrival time, and then matching with a driver.
The service is available throughout the entire city. This marks the fifth and sixth cities in Hokkaido, following Sapporo, Ishikari, Ebetsu, and Kitahiroshima.
