
JR East Releases ‘Kyun Pass’: Unlimited Rides for ¥10,000 on Weekdays Including Shinkansen, Plus New Two-Day Option
JR East and JR Hokkaido will offer special discounted tickets for Shinkansen and limited express trains with a 50% discount available through online reservations only in May.
The ‘Shinkansen e-ticket (Toku-da-ne Special 21)’ offers a 50% discount on Shinkansen fares and reserved seat limited express charges. Main routes and discounted fares include: Hokkaido/Tohoku Shinkansen ‘Hayabusa’ from Tokyo to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto at 11,770 yen (regular 23,526 yen), Tokyo to Shin-Aomori at 8,730 yen (regular 17,470 yen), Tohoku Shinkansen ‘Yamabiko’ from Tokyo to Morioka at 7,140 yen (regular 14,290 yen), Tokyo to Sendai at 5,440 yen (regular 10,890 yen), ‘Nasuno’ from Tokyo to Koriyama at 4,060 yen (regular 8,140 yen), Akita Shinkansen ‘Komachi’ from Tokyo to Akita at 8,900 yen (regular 17,820 yen), Yamagata Shinkansen ‘Tsubasa’ from Tokyo to Yamagata at 5,610 yen (regular 11,250 yen), Joetsu Shinkansen ‘Toki’ from Tokyo to Niigata at 5,280 yen (regular 10,560 yen), ‘Tanigawa’ from Tokyo to Echigo-Yuzawa at 3,290 yen (regular 6,590 yen), Hokuriku Shinkansen ‘Asama’ from Tokyo to Nagano at 4,060 yen (regular 8,140 yen).
The ‘Limited Express Toku-da-ne Special 21’ offers a 50% discount on fares and reserved seat limited express charges for selected trains. Main routes and discounted fares include: ‘Spacia Nikko, Nikko, Kinugawa’ from Shinjuku to Tobu-Nikko at 2,040 yen (regular 4,090 yen), ‘Inaho’ from Niigata to Sakata at 2,680 yen (regular 5,370 yen), ‘Shirayuki’ from Niigata to Joetsumyoko at 2,650 yen (regular 5,320 yen).
The ‘Conventional Line Ticketless Limited Express Ticket (Toku-Wari)’ offers a 50% discount on reserved seat limited express charges for selected trains. Main routes and discounted fares include: ‘Azusa’ from Shinjuku to Matsumoto and ‘Hitachi’ from Ueno to Iwaki at 1,270 yen (regular 2,550 yen), ‘Odoriko’ from Tokyo to Atami, ‘Wakashio’ from Tokyo to Awa-Kamogawa, ‘Shiosai’ from Tokyo to Choshi at 790 yen (regular 1,580 yen), ‘Kusatsu/Shima’ from Ueno to Naganohara-Kusatsuguchi and ‘(Super) Tsugaru’ from Akita to Aomori at 1,140 yen (regular 2,290 yen). A separate ticket is required for travel.
All offers are valid from May 12 to 30. Tickets can be purchased from one month before the travel date at 10 a.m. until 11:50 p.m. 21 days prior. ‘Conventional Line Ticketless Limited Express Ticket (Toku-Wari)’ is available until the scheduled departure time of the train. Advance reservations are possible from 2 p.m. seven days before the start of the sale period. Available only through the online reservation service ‘Eki-net’.
