Turkish Airlines has resumed its Istanbul-Damascus route from January 23.
The route was first launched in February 1984 and had been suspended since April 2012. It operates three round trips per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays using Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The travel time is 2 hours from Istanbul and 2 hours and 10 minutes from Damascus.
Bilal Ekşi, CEO, commented, “We are delighted to resume flights to Damascus, the capital of Syria, as Turkish Airlines. With the historical ties between Turkey and Syria, we expect this flight resumption to further strengthen relations between the two countries and contribute to the development of trade and cultural exchange in the region. As we expand new routes connecting the Middle East to the world, we will continue to contribute as a bridge connecting countries and people, leveraging our extensive flight network.”
