American Express Revamps ‘Business Gold Card’ Allowing up to 99 Additional Cards

American Express revamped its ‘American Express Business Gold Card’ on March 4 and began accepting new applications.

A new additional card with no annual fee attachments has been introduced, allowing up to 99 cards to be issued. It will be Japan’s first card with a white face, with the back featuring the same color as the primary cardholder’s. The credit limit can be set for each card, and the points earned are aggregated with the main card. If there is no usage, a management fee of 3,300 yen (tax included) will be charged. Various benefits and services such as airport lounges and travel accident insurance are not included.

More points can be earned than usual when paying at eligible merchants, and participants of ‘Membership Rewards Plus’ will receive an enhanced point exchange rate. You will be automatically enrolled, and the first-year annual fee is free. The annual participation fee is 3,300 yen (same).

Furthermore, the free accommodation benefit ‘Business Free Stay Gift’ provided according to the card usage amount can be chosen from the facilities of Tokyu’s fixed-rate accommodation service ‘TsugiTsugi’. During the program period, spending over 3 million yen grants one night and over 5 million yen grants two nights for up to two people.

Additionally, as a Gold member of Seibu Prince Hotels & Resorts’ ‘Seibu Prince Global Rewards’, benefits such as late checkout, priority check-in/check-out, and small gifts during the birth month stay are available. In the restaurant reservation service ‘Pocket Concierge’, you can receive a cashback of up to 10,000 yen annually.

Expanding the business matching platform, mainly provided as an additional service for business members since 2023, seven events will be held nationwide this year.

At the press conference, economic analyst Mariko Mabuchi, who explained the business environment, stated, “Business card adoption can be seen as a means to create time and resources for business owners to concentrate on strategic tasks. While wage increases are a significant burden, overcoming them is possible by improving operational efficiency and productivity through business card utilization.”
