Boom Supersonic is opening a Symphony engine testing facility at Colorado Spaceport in Watkins, Colorado, USA.
Previously used for hypersonic engine development, the site is located about 56 kilometers from their headquarters, allowing them to own a testing facility at a lower cost than leasing a government facility. In March, the Symphony engine passed a technical review, and several components have already entered the manufacturing stage.
The investment amounts to 3 to 5 million USD. Testing of the supersonic engine is expected to begin by the end of the year, focusing on the prototype core. The core measures approximately 3.8 meters in length and 1.2 meters in diameter, comprising a compressor, combustor, and turbine. The facility is planned to expand by 2026.
