The Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Bureau of Industrial and Labor Affairs and the Tokyo Environment Public Service Corporation will launch the “Domestic SAF Utilization Promotion Project,” a subsidy program to promote the use of domestically produced sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
The program subsidizes the price difference between domestic and overseas SAF suppliers and aims to contribute not only to the decarbonization of aviation fuel but also to strengthening Tokyo’s international competitiveness, stable supply of SAF, and market development.
The selected contractor for the project is Cosmo Oil Marketing, which will receive a subsidy of 100 yen per liter. The subsidized quantity is 2.5 million liters. The support period lasts until March 31, 2026. Some of the selected SAF is made from waste cooking oil collected through the “Fry to Fly Project,” in which Tokyo is involved.
