JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo to Open on October 2
DoubleTree by Hilton Osaka Castle will offer three types of summer-exclusive “Shaved Ice of the Three Great Sengoku Warlords” from July 1 to September 30.
Enhanced from last year, the newly debuting shaved ice is named after the Sengoku period warlords, Hideyoshi, Nobunaga, and Ieyasu. “Whole Melon IEYASU” uses a whole melon. As Tokugawa Ieyasu’s helmet is inspired by fern leaves symbolizing longevity and prosperity, this shaved ice is topped with choux pastry resembling ferns and decorated in noble purple. It can be enjoyed with two types of melon balls, tea jelly that pairs well with melon-flavored ice cream, espuma, and a separate melon syrup. “Uji Matcha Azuki NOBUNAGA” is named after Oda Nobunaga, featuring matcha shaved ice reminiscent of the deep green shoulder clothing, adorned with a chocolate helmet suggesting the powerful Nobunaga, and striking red decorations. It incorporates abundant Uji matcha, raspberry-flavored white bean paste, refreshing shiratama dango, condensed milk, and azuki beans. By adding a light matcha cream espuma, it is designed to prevent the ice from melting quickly, allowing a prolonged enjoyment of matcha aroma. “Mango & Cider HIDEYOSHI” is named after Toyotomi Hideyoshi, combining richly ripened mango and an Osaka-style cider syrup for a refreshing experience. A sword peeks out from the fluffy espuma, crafted from delicate sugar art, along with a helmet-inspired sugar work, creating a finish reminiscent of the Sengoku era. Hideyoshi’s helmet design features multiple overlapping leaves of “bairo”, a type of iris, spread like a halo, expressing Hideyoshi’s dignity and splendor as a ruler.
The location is “Lounge & Bar SEN (Fun)”. Hours are from 11:30 AM to last order at 9:00 PM. Prices are 5,000 yen for “Whole Melon IEYASU”, 3,500 yen for “Uji Matcha Azuki NOBUNAGA”, and 2,500 yen for “Mango & Cider HIDEYOSHI”, tax and service charge included.
