Airlines Implement Special Measures Due to Typhoon No. 7 Approaching Okinawa Flights
Setouchi Sea Line is inviting the public to submit suggestions for the name of a new high-speed vessel scheduled to launch in April 2026.
This is the first part of the company’s 80th-anniversary project. Applications can be submitted via a dedicated email address, including the applicant’s name, contact information, proposed ship name, and reason for the suggestion. Selected individuals will receive travel vouchers worth 30,000 yen and a commemorative gift, as well as an invitation to the launch ceremony. The application period runs from July 15 to August 15.
The vessel will replace the “Superjet,” the mainstay of the Hiroshima/Kure to Matsuyama route. Its exterior design is handled by GK Design Institute Hiroshima. The ship will have a capacity of approximately 100 people and a gross tonnage of about 120 tons, with dimensions of 31.5 meters in length and 7.0 meters in width. Equipped with a Voith Linear Jet propulsion system and MTU engines, the ship is designed for both high-speed travel and fuel efficiency.
