Jetstar Japan has resumed operations on the Tokyo/Narita to Shanghai/Pudong route starting December 18th.
Flights from Tokyo/Narita operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, while flights from Shanghai/Pudong operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, providing four round trips per week. An Airbus A320 is deployed for this service. The one-way fare for the economy class ‘Starter’ starts at 13,390 yen. No fuel surcharge is applied, but payment fees and airport facilities charges are required separately.
The Tokyo/Narita to Shanghai/Pudong route was first opened as a mainland China route by a Japanese low-cost carrier (LCC) on June 2, 2017, with four weekly flights and later expanded to one round trip a day. It had been suspended due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. This marks the fourth international route to resume operations.
The inaugural flight from Tokyo/Narita, flight GK35, departed at 10:36 PM and arrived in Shanghai/Pudong at 1:06 AM the following day. The return flight, GK36, took off from Shanghai/Pudong at 2:24 AM and arrived at Tokyo/Narita at 6:12 AM.
