Fujieda–Shibuya Highway Bus in Japan Extends to Shinjuku from Oct 1
Tokyo BRT and Keisei Bus have submitted an application to Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) seeking approval to change the maximum fare cap.
Tokyo BRT has continued to post losses due to delays in launching service and establishing its depot. With personnel expenses, vehicle prices, and fuel costs rising and losses expected to expand, the company determined that a fare revision is necessary, aiming to implement it on November 1.
The current adult fare is 220 yen; the planned fare is 250 yen (240 yen when using a transportation IC card). The applied maximum fare cap is 260 yen.
Tokyo BRT’s balance for fiscal 2023 showed a loss of 225 million yen. For fiscal 2026, a loss of 318 million yen is forecast; if the fare revision is implemented, the loss would improve to 213 million yen. A timetable revision is planned for September 16, with two additional articulated buses to be added.
