JAL: Fee-Free Changes for Tanegashima/Yakushima Flights on Sept 4 as Typhoon No. 15 Nears Japan
JetBlue Airways will join Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network, Project Kuiper.
Beginning in 2027, the service will be installed on select aircraft, allowing passengers to use free onboard Wi-Fi—including streaming video—from boarding to deplaning. This will be the first airline implementation.
The system combines a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites orbiting 590–630 kilometers above the Earth, compact and low-cost customer terminals that support download speeds of up to 1 Gbps per unit, a global network of ground stations, and a robust communications infrastructure leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS), delivering a high-speed, low-latency network worldwide. The project already has more than 100 satellites in orbit and is expected to begin service in the latter half of this year.
Amazon has already signed an agreement with Airbus to include Project Kuiper’s connectivity solution in the aircraft catalog.
