JAL: Fee-Free Changes for Tanegashima/Yakushima Flights on Sept 4 as Typhoon No. 15 Nears Japan
Joby Aviation and ANA Holdings will conduct a public demonstration flight of an ANA-liveried electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft at the Osaka–Kansai Expo in Japan.
The flights will use the Joby S4 developed by Joby Aviation. The aircraft will take off from the EXPO Vertiport and fly a figure-eight pattern over the sea. It will fly for about 10 minutes at an altitude below 300 meters and at speeds up to 220 kilometers per hour.
The demonstrations are scheduled from October 1 to 13, with two flights per day starting around 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. On Saturdays only, an additional flight around 4:00 p.m. is under consideration. The flights can also be viewed from locations such as the Grand Roof Ring and in front of the West Gate.
There will be no flights on October 3 and 8; instead, a special open-house event will be held in the hangar. In addition to displaying the actual aircraft, there will be panels and video exhibits outlining the envisioned future operations and an overview of the aircraft. The event lasts about 30 minutes and accepts same-day registration only.
