Delta Air Lines decided the European cities it will serve in next summer’s schedule through a vote by its mileage program members and employees.
Members chose the island of Sardinia, Italy, while employees selected Malta. Three candidates were proposed, including Ibiza, Spain, and about 150,000 people voted.
Operating to/from New York–John F. Kennedy (JFK), Delta will fly four roundtrips per week to Sardinia starting May 20, 2026, and three roundtrips per week to Malta starting June 7, 2026. The airline will be the only carrier operating nonstop flights between the United States and both cities. The routes will be served by Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.
This summer, Delta operated its largest-ever transatlantic schedule and launched service to Catania, Italy.
