JR East to run retro-wrapped Yamanote Line trains in Tokyo for 100th anniversary
Konan Railway (Aomori Prefecture, Japan) announced that it will suspend service on the Owani Line starting April 1, 2028.
Although declining ridership has significantly affected its finances, operations had continued with support from Aomori Prefecture and municipalities along the line. Looking ahead to the business environment, the company determined that continuing operations on the Owani Line would be difficult and decided to suspend service after consultations with the relevant organizations.
Coordination on alternative public transportation to replace the Owani Line is progressing at a study meeting hosted by Aomori Prefecture, with the company stating it will cooperate.
