
Malaysia Airlines and Firefly to expand routes in ASEAN and Oceania
Turkish Airlines launched its Istanbul–Port Sudan route on September 17.
Initially, it operates two round trips per week on Wednesdays and Fridays, and from September 29 it will increase to three round trips per week with Mondays added. The planned operating period is through March 31, 2026. The route is operated with Boeing 737 aircraft. The flight time is 4 hours 5 minutes from Istanbul and 4 hours from Port Sudan.
Port Sudan is Sudan’s largest port city. In addition to serving as an export hub for oil, agricultural products, and natural resources, it offers tourist attractions such as traditional markets, historic buildings, and marine tourism. With this addition, the number of African destinations served has expanded to 63.
