Jetstar Japan has announced additional flight cancellations for today, December 29th, due to the Jetstar Crew Association (JCA) strike.
In addition to the already decided 9 flight cancellations, 6 more flights are cancelled due to the strike and 2 flights due to maintenance reasons. This brings the total number of cancelled flights to 17.
The additional cancellations include 8 flights: GK117/118/119/120 on the Tokyo/Narita-Sapporo/Chitose route, GK515/516 on the Tokyo/Narita-Fukuoka route, and GK623/624 on the Tokyo/Narita-Kagoshima route, affecting approximately 2,600 passengers, with a cancellation rate of around 13%. There is also the possibility of further cancellations, and the airline urges customers to check the website for updates.
For the customers booked on the cancelled flights, the options provided are: (1) transfer to another Jetstar flight, (2) a refund, or (3) secure a booking and purchase a ticket for a normal seat on another airline’s flight, excluding taxis and utilize the full refund for the used transportation services.
Furthermore, Japan Airlines (JAL), the primary shareholder of Jetstar Japan, has set up extra flights on the Tokyo/Haneda-Asahikawa route. These include flight JAL4517 departing Tokyo/Haneda at 3:25 PM and flight JAL4518 departing Asahikawa at 6:10 PM.
According to Jetstar Japan’s announcement as of December 22nd, the reservation rate for domestic flights on December 29th is 85.2% for departures and 83.3% for arrivals, the highest during the year-end and New Year period, with some flights being fully booked.
