American Airlines to deploy Airbus A321XLR on first international route: JFK–Edinburgh from March 8, 2026

American Airlines has decided on the first international route to deploy the Airbus A321XLR.

It will begin operating the type on the New York/John F. Kennedy–Edinburgh seasonal scheduled service from March 8, 2026, through October 24.

The type will first be deployed on the New York/John F. Kennedy–Los Angeles route starting December 28, with operations continuing through March of the following year. As additional aircraft are delivered, it will be introduced on transcontinental and international routes.

The cabin is configured in three classes with a total of 155 seats: 20 Flagship Suite seats, 12 Premium Economy seats, and 123 Main Cabin seats.

Flagship Suite features a privacy door, larger storage space, a wireless charging pad, a cocktail tray, and a reading light. Premium Economy features a winged headrest with enhanced privacy, a footrest, and wireless charging; in addition to hot meals, an amenity kit with premium skincare products is also provided.
