Japan’s StarFlyer to Resume International Flights as Early as FY2026
Cathay Pacific will deploy Boeing 777-300ER aircraft equipped with the new Aria Suite business class and a new Premium Economy cabin on the Tokyo/Haneda–Hong Kong route starting January 1, 2026.
The route operates two round trips daily; these aircraft will be assigned to flights CX549/548, which depart Tokyo/Haneda in the evening and Hong Kong in the morning.
The new cabin product was announced in October 2024, and retrofits are underway across 30 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The configuration seats 361 passengers: 45 in Business Class, 48 in Premium Economy, and 268 in Economy. In availability searches and flight status displays, it is shown as “77J”.
The Aria Suite features a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone layout with a door for a private suite. The cabin uses gray and brown tones with rounded forms for a softer, more calming ambiance. Amenities include a 24-inch 4K monitor, wireless charging, and USB-C power. The seat is based on Collins Aerospace’s “Elements” platform, with design by JPA Design.
Premium Economy is arranged 2-4-2 and uses the Recaro Aircraft Seating PL3530. It is equipped with up to a 15.6-inch 4K monitor and USB-C power.
