Qatar Airways Launches Doha–Red Sea Route, 3x Weekly on A320
Alaska Airlines will launch the Seattle–Rome route on April 28, 2026.
Although the carrier initially planned four roundtrips per week, strong demand has prompted a switch to one roundtrip per day. The route will be operated with Boeing 787-9 aircraft as a summer seasonal service.
This will be Alaska Airlines’ first service to Europe, and the airline has also announced plans to open Seattle–London/Heathrow and Reykjavik routes.
Alaska Airlines currently operates four Boeing 787-9s and expects to take delivery of a fifth by year-end. The fleet could grow to as many as 17 aircraft, and the carrier anticipates launching more than 12 transcontinental routes from Seattle by 2030.
