AirAsia to Allow Female Cabin Crew to Wear Hijabs Under New Uniform Policy
Shinjuku Ward in Tokyo Metropolis has issued discontinuation orders to 4 private lodging (minpaku) business operators, covering a total of 11 facilities, under Japan’s Private Lodging Business Act.
Shinjuku Ward accounts for just under 10% of all registrations as private lodging business operators nationwide, making it the highest in Japan. Along with this increase, there has also been a rise in cases that escalate into complaints from nearby residents, surging from 70 cases in fiscal year 2021 to 561 cases in fiscal year 2024.
The discontinuation orders were issued to three individual operators — Zheng Zhao Gao, Harunori Tamura, and Shuichi Tomono — and one corporate operator, 54 Inc. (Representative Director: Taishi Kanazawa). Business operators that receive a discontinuation order are prohibited from operating minpaku businesses for three years.
