British Airways to Launch Three New Summer Routes in 2026
Iberia will launch a Madrid–New York/Newark route on March 29, 2026.
The airline will operate one round trip per day, using Airbus A321XLR aircraft. The flight time will be 8 hours and 50 minutes from Madrid, and 7 hours and 35 minutes from New York/Newark.
The service will complement the two daily round trips on the Madrid–New York/John F. Kennedy route. In total, Iberia expects to offer more than 350,000 seats between Madrid and New York/John F. Kennedy during the summer schedule.
Newark Liberty International Airport is located closer to Manhattan, and Iberia aims to capture more business travel demand. The airline also notes benefits such as greater flexibility in schedules and fares, and optimized operations.
