British Airways to Launch Three New Summer Routes in 2026
The Metropolitan Expressway Company has announced a proposed toll revision, to be implemented as early as October 2026.
The overall toll level will be raised, increasing the per‑kilometer toll for standard-sized vehicles from the current 29.52 yen to 32.472 yen, which is an increase of roughly 10 percent. The minimum toll for standard-sized vehicles will remain at 300 yen, and the distance cap for the maximum toll will be maintained at 55 kilometers. The average rate of revision will be 8.1 percent.
The company will extend and expand large-volume and frequent-user discounts up to a maximum discount rate of 45 percent, and will continue the discounts for entering central Tokyo and the combined central Tokyo entry / Bayshore Route diversion discounts through the end of March 2031.
In recent years, maintenance and management costs have risen due to the rapid surge in labor and material costs and the increasing severity of natural disasters. To address these issues, a study panel was established in October, and deliberations have been ongoing. Based on the first interim report, the tolls will now be revised.
