Tokyo BRT to Extend Service Toward Tokyo Station by Fall 2026
The Kinki Regional Development Bureau of Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and the city of Kobe in Hyogo Prefecture have decided to name the new medium- and long-distance bus terminal being developed in front of Kobe Sannomiya Station “Busta Kobe Sannomiya.”
The new bus terminal is being developed by the national government and will cover an area of approximately 6,730 square meters. It will have a total of 9 berths, consisting of 5 for boarding and alighting and 4 for waiting. It will be operated in an integrated manner with the Sannomiya Bus Terminal owned by the city of Kobe, and the new name will serve as a collective designation for both terminals. The new bus terminal will be developed in stages, and a second phase of development on adjacent land is under consideration.
Operation will be handled by a private operator. STO has been selected, with Shinki Bus as the lead company, Tokyu Community as a participating company, and Obayashi Corporation as a cooperating company.
