Rakuten Travel Changes Bonus Program from January 2026
KNT-CT Holdings will consolidate the individual travel business and purchasing division into Club Tourism.
The directly managed retail store business and purchasing division of Kinki Nippon Tourist, along with the web sales business for the domestic market of Kinki Nippon Tourist Blue Planet, will be consolidated into Club Tourism.
Through this, the company will centrally manage operations across brick-and-mortar stores, the web, and media sales, while also enhancing its procurement capabilities by consolidating the purchasing division. It also aims to streamline business operations by eliminating overlapping departments, improving operational efficiency, and reducing manpower needs. Furthermore, it will integrate the database of 7 million Club Tourism members and 3 million Kinki Nippon Tourist members to strengthen marketing.
An absorption-type company split will take effect on April 1. After the business reorganization, Kinki Nippon Tourist will handle only its affiliated sales business, and Kinki Nippon Tourist Blue Planet will handle only web sales business for the inbound (to Japan) tourism market within its individual travel operations.
From April to November 2025, KNT-CT Holdings’ transaction volume for domestic individual travel is projected to be 41.6% of the 2018 level, for domestic packaged tours 69.5%, and for domestic travel overall 70.7%, indicating that it has not yet returned to pre-COVID-19 levels.
