Delta Air Lines Places Firm Order for 31 Airbus Widebody Aircraft Including A330-900 and A350-900
Lufthansa German Airlines will refurbish the business class cabin on its Airbus A380 aircraft.
The work will be carried out at Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW) in Dresden, Germany, starting in early February. The first aircraft to undergo refurbishment will be “Mike Charlie.” Along with the cabin refurbishment, scheduled maintenance will also be performed, and the aircraft is expected to resume operations from Munich as its base starting in April. By utilizing existing certifications, the airline says it can skip lengthy approval processes.
The new seats, manufactured by Thompson Aero Seating, will total 68. Each seat is over 2 meters in length and 58 centimeters wide, and all seats have direct aisle access. The seats will feature Bluetooth connectivity and flexible partitions. In addition to business class, the Airbus A380 will be configured with 8 first class seats, 52 premium economy seats, and 371 economy class seats.
The airline plans to refurbish all 8 aircraft, with completion scheduled by mid-2027.
