Hotel InterContinental Tokyo Bay will offer its “Strawberry Blossom Afternoon Tea” from March 1 to April 12.
With a theme of Japanese strawberries and cherry blossoms, the menu features a specialty dish of fresh strawberries paired with a sakura sauce, along with five kinds of petits gâteaux: “Strawberry and Sakura Verrine,” “Strawberry Buttercream Sandwich,” “Strawberry Éclair,” a tart made with strawberries and Sayama matcha (green tea from the Sayama region of Japan), and strawberry mousse with a plum flavor topped with sakura jelly. Two types of scones—sakura and matcha—are served with strawberry jam, peach jam, and clotted cream.
At the New York Lounge, Hudson Lounge, and through In-Room Dining, savory items will also be available, including cauliflower potage, triangular chicken pie with strawberries, egg sandwiches scented with cherry blossoms, and beet blancmange with marinated seafood.
In addition, five other dining outlets at the hotel in Tokyo, including Rainbow Bridge View Dining & Champagne Bar Manhattan, Fine Dining La Provence, and Italian Dining Zillion, will offer special limited-time savory items and dinner courses paired with the afternoon tea.
At The Shop N.Y. Lounge Boutique, the hotel will sell a “Strawberry Blossom Afternoon Tea Box,” which includes an assortment of sweets, scones, savory items, and tea, as well as a “Strawberry Blossom Afternoon Tea Petits Fours Box” focusing on sweets and scones.
Prices start from JPY 8,250 for the New York Lounge afternoon tea and from JPY 7,150 for the in-room dining afternoon tea. All prices include tax but exclude service charge. The takeout “Strawberry Blossom Afternoon Tea Box” is JPY 3,996, and the “Strawberry Blossom Afternoon Tea Petits Fours Box” is JPY 3,456, both including tax.
