JAL and JTA to Maintain International Fuel Surcharge Levels for April–May 2026 Tickets
The Lufthansa Group will operate approximately 1,600 additional flights to respond to a short-term increase in demand.
Lufthansa German Airlines will add two round-trip flights per week on the Frankfurt–Chennai and Frankfurt–Delhi routes, and one additional round-trip flight per week on the Frankfurt–Hyderabad and Munich–Bengaluru routes. In addition, Swiss International Air Lines has increased the Zurich–Delhi route by one round-trip flight per day.
Furthermore, between April and October, Lufthansa German Airlines will operate approximately 540 additional flights from Frankfurt and Munich to various destinations across Europe. The number of flights to southern European resort destinations, the Iberian Peninsula, Greece, and Italy will increase significantly. In addition, Austrian Airlines will operate about 700 additional flights from Vienna, Swiss International Air Lines will add more than 100 flights from Zurich, and Brussels Airlines will operate around 170 extra flights from Brussels.
By adjusting its flight schedule on Middle East routes, the group will secure additional transport capacity. This will enable flexible response to changes in booking behavior among affected travelers.
The geopolitical environment is described as unstable during the recovery phase, characterized by short-term changes and market volatility. While the sharp rise in airfares due to soaring fuel prices could potentially affect demand, travel demand at this point in time remains at a very high level despite fare increases already implemented.
In parallel with expanding its operational scale, the group is developing and evaluating scenarios to respond quickly to changes in market conditions, including the possible discontinuation of unprofitable routes and the early retirement of aging aircraft.
