United Airlines has begun providing security checkpoint wait time information within its mobile app.
The trial program covers its hub airports in Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, New York/Newark, San Francisco, and Washington in the United States, and displays estimated wait times for both regular security screening and TSA PreCheck in the app. Data is supplied by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) or the respective airport operators.
Although payment of salaries to TSA staff, which had been frozen due to the suspension of the federal budget, has resumed, the shutdown of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security continues, and its impact remains a concern.
