Japan Transport Safety Board Finds JAL A350 Megaphone Coverage Inadequate in Haneda Collision
All Nippon Airways (ANA) will significantly increase its fuel surcharge for international flights on tickets issued from May onward.
The fuel surcharge is collected based on the amount obtained by converting into Japanese yen the two‑month average market price of Singapore kerosene using the two‑month average foreign exchange rate.
In addition, for tickets issued on or after May 1, the reference period for calculating the surcharge and its application period will be changed. Currently, the surcharge applied in a given month is determined based on the two‑month average fuel price from four and three months prior to the month of application. After the revision, it will be determined based on the two‑month average fuel price from three and two months prior to the month of application.
Furthermore, ANA will introduce a new reference table for levels at and above 21,000 yen. Taking into account the effect of subsidies for aviation fuel introduced as an emergency measure to mitigate sharp fluctuations in response to the situation in the Middle East, the table for “22,000 yen or more but less than 23,000 yen” will be applied as a special case, even though the table for “23,000 yen or more but less than 24,000 yen” would normally apply.
For each one‑way sector to or from Japan, the surcharge will be 56,000 yen for routes to North America (excluding Hawaii), Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Oceania, and Central and South America; 36,800 yen for routes to Hawaii, India, and Indonesia; 29,000 yen for routes to Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Cambodia; 19,700 yen for routes to Vietnam, the Philippines, Guam, Palau, and Mongolia; 14,700 yen for East Asia routes excluding South Korea; and 6,700 yen for South Korea and Russia (Vladivostok).
When purchased in the United Kingdom, the surcharge will be denominated in British pounds; when purchased in European countries other than the UK, it will be denominated in euros; and when purchased in all other countries, it will be denominated in US dollars. Separate levels are set for itineraries departing from certain countries.
