Mitsui O.S.K. Lines’ Sunflower to Launch New Ferry ‘Sunflower Kamui’ on January 21, 2025
Carnival Japan has signed a partnership agreement with the Korea Tourism Organization with the aim of expanding cruise tourism to South Korea.
Through Japan round-trip cruises operated by the cruise ships Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess, they are targeting the attraction of 300,000 inbound foreign tourists to South Korea by the end of fiscal year 2028. Specific areas of cooperation include increasing the disembarkation rate of passengers and crew and promoting spending at ports of call; developing high value-added tours and surrounding-area tourism products for each port of call such as Busan and Jeju Island; supporting improvements to reception infrastructure such as shuttle buses; conducting inspection tours aimed at developing new ports of call; and planning and promoting charter cruise products.
Princess Cruises began operating Japan round-trip cruises in 2013 and has reached its 14th year of service in 2026. In 2027 and 2028, it will deploy a two-ship system for Japan round-trip cruises using both sister ships built in Japan, visiting a total of three countries including Busan and Jeju Island in South Korea.
