Skymark has begun using the cargo holds of its passenger flights from Ibaraki to Sapporo/New Chitose to transport precision equipment collected by Yamato Transport within Ibaraki Prefecture by air, starting on May 29.
Skymark concluded a comprehensive partnership agreement with Ibaraki Prefecture in February, and is working on several collaborative initiatives, including promoting tourism and creating new air travel demand with Ibaraki Airport as a hub. The launch of this cargo transport service is one concrete initiative under that agreement, and the airline says it will leverage the high on-time performance of its passenger flights and its air network to help solve logistics challenges and revitalize the regional economy.
Skymark also aims to further strengthen its earnings base by expanding its cargo transport routes in the future.
