
JR Central Warns of Possible Tokaido Shinkansen Disruptions on June 2–3 Due to Typhoon
East Japan Railway Company (JR East) will suspend conventional limited express trains from the morning of June 3, due to the approach of Typhoon No. 6.
As of 4:30 p.m. on June 2, trains that have been decided to be fully suspended over their entire routes are Narita Express services No. 1–36; Hitachi services No. 7–30; Tokiwa service No. 64; “Azusa” services No. 1, 3, 4, 8, 9, 12, 13, 16, 17, 18, 21, 22, 25, 26, 29, 30, and 34; Kaiji services No. 2, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14, 15, 19, 20, 23, 24, 27, 28, 31, 32, and 70; Fuji Excursion services No. 3, 7, 11, 15, 32, 36, 44, and 48; Wakashio services No. 1–21; Sazanami services No. 1–7; Shiosai services No. 1–14; SPACIA Nikko services No. 1 and 4; Kinugawa services No. 2 and 3; Kusatsu–Shima services No. 1–4; Akagi services No. 1–9; Odoriko services No. 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, and 11; and Saphir Odoriko services No. 1 and 2. In addition to these, some trains will be suspended on partial sections of their routes, and more cancellations may be added depending on future weather information.
On conventional lines, operations will be suspended from the first train between Odawara and Atami stations on the Tokaido Line, on the entire Ito Line, between Ome and Okutama stations on the Ome Line, between Tokyo and Ueno stations on the Ueno–Tokyo Line, and between Ikebukuro and Zushi stations as well as between Omiya and Odawara stations on the Shonan–Shinjuku Line. JR East also warns that on other lines there is a possibility of train delays and cancellations from early morning through nighttime.
As for the Shinkansen (high-speed rail), there are currently no plans to suspend operations, but delays and cancellations may still occur.
