Alaska Airlines has opened a new lounge at Portland International Airport in the United States.
The lounge covers about 14,000 square feet, roughly double the size of the previous facility, and offers more than 200 seats including the “Signature Loungers” area. The design features the warm, welcoming atmosphere typical of the U.S. Pacific Northwest, with a fireplace and a wooden wall mural of Mount Hood by artist Ben Butler. Natural light pours in through the high atrium ceiling, providing sweeping views of Portland’s new terminal. The lounge offers light meals using local ingredients, barista-made beverages, cocktails created in partnership with West Coast brands, as well as ample power outlets and privacy booths. The project cost approximately USD 18 million and was completed after about two years of construction.
As the largest airline in Portland, Alaska Airlines operates more than 100 flights per day and is expanding its network to over 60 destinations, primarily in North America. This summer, it will launch year-round services to Everett/Paine Field and Pasco–Tri-Cities, as well as seasonal service to Jackson Hole. By this autumn, the airline plans to increase the number of seats offered in Portland by about 50 percent compared to two years ago.
As part of its lounge expansion strategy, Alaska Airlines plans to open its largest lounge, measuring more than 41,000 square feet, in Seattle in 2027. In 2028, it will also open a new lounge in San Diego and expand its lounge in Honolulu.
