Biman Bangladesh Airlines to Resume Tokyo Narita–Dhaka Flights from July 27
EVA Air launched its Taipei/Taoyuan–Washington route on June 26.
The airline operates four round-trip flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The route is served by three-class Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The flight time is 15 hours from Taipei/Taoyuan and 15 hours 55 minutes from Washington.
Washington, D.C., has the 7th-largest metropolitan area in the United States, with a large and stable population base. It serves as the political center of the country as well as a major economic hub where many corporations are concentrated. EVA Air states that the new service will enhance its network in the U.S. East Coast market, and estimates that it will generate more than USD 61 million in annual economic impact.
This is the first time a Taiwanese airline has launched service to Washington, D.C. With this addition, EVA Air’s North American network expands to 10 destinations and 98 round-trip flights per week, giving it the largest North American route network among Taiwanese carriers. Through partnerships with major airlines including United Airlines and Air Canada, passengers can access more than 200 cities across North and South America.
To mark the arrival of the inaugural flight from Taipei, the aircraft received a water cannon salute, and the first departure to Taipei was celebrated with a traditional dragon and lion dance ceremony. A cross-party delegation of legislators, including Han Kuo-yu, President of Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan, was also on board.
