Rakuten Group will revise the contents of its bonus program for its travel booking service “Rakuten Travel” as of August 5.
The level system will change from the current “Level 0–4” to “Level 1–5,” and the level displayed for existing members will automatically be switched by adding 1 to their current level.
The benefits will be changed from point rewards to discounts that are applied immediately at the time of booking. The discount rate varies depending on the member level at the time of booking and the payment method. For online credit card payments, Level 2 (2–3 uses) will receive a 1% discount, Level 3 (4–6 uses) a 2% discount, Level 4 (7–9 uses) a 3% discount, and Level 5 (10 or more uses) a 4% discount. For on-site payment at the property, a 1% discount will be applied, but Level 2 will not be eligible.
The regular points (equivalent to 1%) awarded when using the service will continue to be returned as points as before, and at some hotels, benefits will be provided as point rewards instead of discounts.
