Special Express ‘Yakumo’ New Model Train Open House Held at Osaka Station
West Japan Railway Company (JR West) will hold an open house for the new Series 273 train cars, which will be introduced to the ‘Yakumo’ limited express service, at Osaka Station on February 10.
During the tour, attendees can collect stickers of past Yakumo trains in various areas, and those who collect them all will receive novelties and tourism PR goods. The event is open to 350 participants, and groups of up to six can apply via the application form. The application period is from 10 a.m. on January 15 to February 1.
At the 2nd floor atrium plaza of OSAKA STATION CITY, events to promote Tottori and Shimane prefectures will be held, including the advance sale of new ‘Yakumo’ merchandise and the sale of souvenirs from the San’in region.
The Series 273 trains will feature standard cars, green cars, and semi-compartment configurations, as well as luggage spaces in each car and power outlets for each seat. The trains are equipped with a new “onboard controllable natural pendulum system” jointly developed by the Railway Technical Research Institute and Kawasaki Rolling Stock Manufacturing Company. By continuously comparing registered curve data with actual running point data, the train’s body is tilted at the optimal timing, improving ride comfort.
