FAA Recommends Inspection of Door Plugs on Boeing 737-900ER Aircraft
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has recommended visual inspections of door plugs for airlines operating Boeing 737-900ER aircraft.
Although not part of the Boeing 737 MAX series, the recommendation comes in response to an incident where the mid-cabin door plug of a Boeing 737-9 model detached. The FAA is calling for safety measures in Boeing 737-900ER models, which employ the same design. Some airlines have conducted additional inspections, and have reported issues with the bolts during maintenance checks.
The FAA has requested that visual inspections be conducted to ensure that there are two upper guide track bolts and two lower arrester bolts securing the door plug.
